■  Professional Profile

A Senior Professional at Sierra Research and Director of Sierra's CVS Testing Laboratory, Mr. Di Genova has considerable experience in both mobile and stationary source air pollution research. Responsibilities at Sierra include supervision of vehicle emissions testing in Sierra’s chassis dynamometer test facility; assessment of emissions and emission control technologies for mobile and stationary sources; and analysis of gaseous and particulate air quality data and other aerometric and emission data. Work at Sierra has included detailed instrumentation and data analysis in support of Sierra’s drive cycle studies and related onroad vehicle emissions studies, as well as investigations into vehicle inspection and maintenance issues, and remote sensing. For state and local authorities in Alaska, Mr. Di Genova has designed, installed and operated a dynamometer-based CVS measurement system to measure pollutant emissions and evaluate potential emission controls under winter conditions in Fairbanks. Mr. Di Genova has also developed and demonstrated vehicle instrumentation systems for onboard measurement of vehicle operating characteristics and emissions, including remote speed and acceleration measurements.

Mr. Di Genova has been working in the field of air pollution control since 1973. Immediately prior to joining Sierra Research in 1990, he served as Director of Research for the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management, on loan from his position as Chief of the Research and Economic Studies Branch of the California Air Resources Board. Earlier, Mr. Di Genova served in CARB's Stationary Source Control Division and in the New Jersey Bureau of Air Pollution Control. Mr. Di Genova has a B.S. degree in Physics from the State University of New York at Albany, and a M.S. degree in Environmental Science, specializing in Air Resources, from Rutgers University. He is certified as a Qualified Environmental Professional by the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice.
